Taylor Momsen, Courtney Love? Taylor Love, Courtney Momsen?

I'm not actually familiar with Taylor Momsen, except from the odd episode of Gossip Girl I've watched whilst being hungover on a Sunday afternoon, but I know she's in a new band called The Pretty Reckless.
I know this because, whilst stalking(?) The Veronicas, I saw a video of The Pretty Reckless opening for them.
I actually really like them, but the only thing thats putting me off is the striking resembalance to Courtney Love. (Obviously pre-drugs/pre-Kurt Cobain/pre-alcoholism/pre-plastic surgery)
It's not just the way she looks, but also the clothes she wears and her stage presence.
I hope, like seriously, seriously hope, that she's not going to try to be Courtney, because lets face it, she's not exactly a wonderful role model.
Plus, I'd hate to think of Taylor's music career was over before it begun. But even if this is the case, she has her acting career to fall back on. It's alright for some ...

My time at CCAD

Christ, I can't even believe its almost over. I spent the whole first year complaining that it 'feels like I've been here my whole life and am never going to leave!" but now I am, I'm pretty gutted, I won't lie to you.
There's things I won't miss obviously, like being abused daily by Alex, I don't enjoy this by the way Alex, but I'll miss everyone from the course. When you spent 2 years with the same 10 people day in day out you gradually become to like them. Slowly, it took me a while. No I joke, You're all lovely and I really will miss you.

Now I'm bailing down south to Derby, I think it's in the south, truth be told I have no clue where it actually is but I'm looking forward to getting there and meeting new people, partying etc.
I am also looking forward to loosing my northern accent and getting a lovely southern one, but I don't think this will happen for a while, this saddens me.

Anyway, I should stop now because I literally would go on forever, as you all know I can talk endlessly about anything.
Good luck, I hope you all have fun at uni or whatever your doing after college! ♥

Hook Me Up

Instead of doing a playlist this week I'm just going to recommend and album to you all:
Hook Me Up - The Veronicas.

Their first album was the soundtrack to my summer 2006, and Hook Me Up, their second, was my soundtrack to summer 2008 and probably 2009.
They've recently gained popularity in the UK but have been around for years and they're getting better and better.
The band is fronted by twins Jess & Lisa Origliasso and aside from their musical talent they're both really funny. Especially when they're argue. Jess, the blonde is my favourite, although I'm hoping she's going to dye her hair black again soon.
I wouldn't say it was the type of music I usually listen to, I'm not particuarlly a fan of 'pop', but they're literally too likeable (they're Australian♥) and have been probably the longest running of all of my strange obsessions.

Listen to:
Untouched
- I'm hoping this isn't going to be ridiculously overplayed but I have a feeling it will be.
Take me on the floor - "like Katy Perry's I kissed a girl on steriods". I'll just leave it with that quote.
Popular - It's a joke. I like this.
This love - I just really like it. Especially when its done acoustically.

Straighten up your tie, take the microphone.

5. Crying blood - VV Brown
A straight A student, A Select model and a ridiculously talented vocalist, there's literally nothing bad about her. I love her hair roll, how shes inspired by Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin and the fact that shes about to open a vintage store. (http://www.vvvintage.com/)
This song is awesome.

4. Shake, Shake - The Coathangers
Like Riot Grrrl only more modern.

3. Last thing on your mind - Lights
A strange girl from Toronto who has an obsession with superheros and headbands.
She won best new artist at the 2009 Juno awards, and is well worth listening to.

2. In for the Kill - La Roux
It's weird, as much as I actually like this song, it always puts me in a melancholy mood ...

1. Tigerlily - La Roux
She actually deserves to be number 1 & 2, she's my current favourite, and this is my favourite song by her. I especially like the Spotify Live Session.

I'm too un-inspired and busy with too much college work to think of ten songs this week.
Maybe next week i'll do 15, probably not though. x

Oh, you silly thing

10. Happy House - Siouxsie and the Banshees

9. Good Weekend – Art Brut

8. Disco 2000 – Pulp

7. Amy, Amy, Amy - Amy Winehouse
Because my friend Georgie sings it to me as a greeting when I answer the phone/walk into a room.

6. Blue or gray – Jaymay
Just because I think it's cute and reminds me of The Moldy Peaches.

5. My way – Sid Vicious
Literally just an album of Sid going wild on drugs changing the lyrics to songs and covering others in an attempt to keep his fame and make Johnny Rotten angry.
As bad as that sounds, I actually like this album. Sort of.

4. Boys don't cry - The Cure

3. Silly Thing - The Sex Pistols
The fact that Paul Cook sang lead vocals on this song and it's easily one of the best proves that Johnny Rotten shouldn't have even been in the band. He wasn't the most charismatic member of the band and certainly not the most talented. Plus the songs he actually sang are ridiculously over-played.

2. Womanizer - Ladyhawke's cover
Because it's better than Britney's version?

1. Baby, hold me tight - Kitty, Daisy and Lewis
Three siblings from North London who recorded their first album in their living room/home made studio made up entirely equiptment from the 40's and 50's and set up by Lewis, swap between instruments and vocals during their sets and dress in rockabilly clothing.
Whats not to like?
