I'm not actually familiar with Taylor Momsen, except from the odd episode of Gossip Girl I've watched whilst being hungover on a Sunday afternoon, but I know she's in a new band called The Pretty Reckless.
I know this because, whilst stalking(?) The Veronicas, I saw a video of The Pretty Reckless opening for them.
I actually really like them, but the only thing thats putting me off is the striking resembalance to Courtney Love. (Obviously pre-drugs/pre-Kurt Cobain/pre-alcoholism/pre-plastic surgery)
It's not just the way she looks, but also the clothes she wears and her stage presence.
I hope, like seriously, seriously hope, that she's not going to try to be Courtney, because lets face it, she's not exactly a wonderful role model.
Plus, I'd hate to think of Taylor's music career was over before it begun. But even if this is the case, she has her acting career to fall back on. It's alright for some ...

My time at CCAD
Christ, I can't even believe its almost over. I spent the whole first year complaining that it 'feels like I've been here my whole life and am never going to leave!" but now I am, I'm pretty gutted, I won't lie to you.
There's things I won't miss obviously, like being abused daily by Alex, I don't enjoy this by the way Alex, but I'll miss everyone from the course. When you spent 2 years with the same 10 people day in day out you gradually become to like them. Slowly, it took me a while. No I joke, You're all lovely and I really will miss you.
Now I'm bailing down south to Derby, I think it's in the south, truth be told I have no clue where it actually is but I'm looking forward to getting there and meeting new people, partying etc.
I am also looking forward to loosing my northern accent and getting a lovely southern one, but I don't think this will happen for a while, this saddens me.
Anyway, I should stop now because I literally would go on forever, as you all know I can talk endlessly about anything.
Good luck, I hope you all have fun at uni or whatever your doing after college! ♥

Hook Me Up
Instead of doing a playlist this week I'm just going to recommend and album to you all:
Hook Me Up - The Veronicas.
Their first album was the soundtrack to my summer 2006, and Hook Me Up, their second, was my soundtrack to summer 2008 and probably 2009.
They've recently gained popularity in the UK but have been around for years and they're getting better and better.
The band is fronted by twins Jess & Lisa Origliasso and aside from their musical talent they're both really funny. Especially when they're argue. Jess, the blonde is my favourite, although I'm hoping she's going to dye her hair black again soon.
I wouldn't say it was the type of music I usually listen to, I'm not particuarlly a fan of 'pop', but they're literally too likeable (they're Australian♥) and have been probably the longest running of all of my strange obsessions.
Listen to:
Untouched - I'm hoping this isn't going to be ridiculously overplayed but I have a feeling it will be.
Take me on the floor - "like Katy Perry's I kissed a girl on steriods". I'll just leave it with that quote.
Popular - It's a joke. I like this.
This love - I just really like it. Especially when its done acoustically.

Straighten up your tie, take the microphone.
5. Crying blood - VV Brown
A straight A student, A Select model and a ridiculously talented vocalist, there's literally nothing bad about her. I love her hair roll, how shes inspired by Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin and the fact that shes about to open a vintage store. (http://www.vvvintage.com/)
This song is awesome.
4. Shake, Shake - The Coathangers
Like Riot Grrrl only more modern.
3. Last thing on your mind - Lights
A strange girl from Toronto who has an obsession with superheros and headbands.
She won best new artist at the 2009 Juno awards, and is well worth listening to.
2. In for the Kill - La Roux
It's weird, as much as I actually like this song, it always puts me in a melancholy mood ...
1. Tigerlily - La Roux
She actually deserves to be number 1 & 2, she's my current favourite, and this is my favourite song by her. I especially like the Spotify Live Session.
I'm too un-inspired and busy with too much college work to think of ten songs this week.
Maybe next week i'll do 15, probably not though. x

Oh, you silly thing
10. Happy House - Siouxsie and the Banshees
9. Good Weekend – Art Brut
8. Disco 2000 – Pulp
7. Amy, Amy, Amy - Amy Winehouse
Because my friend Georgie sings it to me as a greeting when I answer the phone/walk into a room.
6. Blue or gray – Jaymay
Just because I think it's cute and reminds me of The Moldy Peaches.
5. My way – Sid Vicious
Literally just an album of Sid going wild on drugs changing the lyrics to songs and covering others in an attempt to keep his fame and make Johnny Rotten angry.
As bad as that sounds, I actually like this album. Sort of.
As bad as that sounds, I actually like this album. Sort of.
4. Boys don't cry - The Cure
3. Silly Thing - The Sex Pistols
The fact that Paul Cook sang lead vocals on this song and it's easily one of the best proves that Johnny Rotten shouldn't have even been in the band. He wasn't the most charismatic member of the band and certainly not the most talented. Plus the songs he actually sang are ridiculously over-played.
2. Womanizer - Ladyhawke's cover
1. Baby, hold me tight - Kitty, Daisy and Lewis
Three siblings from North London who recorded their first album in their living room/home made studio made up entirely equiptment from the 40's and 50's and set up by Lewis, swap between instruments and vocals during their sets and dress in rockabilly clothing.
Whats not to like?

We sure are cute for two ugly people
10. Alcohol – Millionaires
Bling Bling Bling
I have no clue how this even ended up on this list. It’s a decision I know I’ll regret. I actually already do. Oh my god.
9. Should I stay or should I go – The Clash
Combat Rock
I bet when you saw the Clash you thought it was going to be ‘London’s Calling’ but since I think it’s the most over-rated song in the history of the music I thought I’d broaden your horizons and put this on the list.
8. Hong Kong Garden – Siouxsie and the Banshees
This song was wrote about a group of racist skinheads who went into Hong Kong Garden Chinese takeaway to terrorize the staff there and Siouxsie said the song was a ‘tribute’ to the people who worked their and to say ‘leave them alone’ to the skinheads.
Apart from its message it’s a ridiculously good song and is almost constantly stuck in my head.
7. Bathwater – No Doubt
Return of Saturn
If this was any other band I’d worry about boring you with their constant appearance on my playlists, but since its No Doubt and they can never be boring I’m not bothered.
6. Chick Habit – April March
The kiss of the crocodile
I first heard this song on the movie Deathproof and I think it’s awesome. I’m not even sure what it is I like about it but I always listen to it when I’m driving, well, when my mum’s driving. But she really doesn’t like this song as much as I do.
5. Don’t want to go to bed now – Gabriella Cilmi
Lessons to be learned
This is actually one of my favourite albums of 2008, it was pretty much the soundtrack to my summer and then my winter (Warm This Winter was the only Christmas song I listened to). She’s always compared to Amy Winehouse but I don’t see the resemblance much, although given her drunken behaviour at the ARIAs (overwhelmed by the 6 awards she won?) a lot of people thought she’d be going down the same path soon. I don’t reckon she will. Fingers crossed anyway because I’d quite like to hear a second album from her.
4. Anyone else but you – The Moldy Peaches
The Moldy peaches
Probably the cutest song I’ve ever heard, the vocals aren’t stereotypically good and the songs are basic but this is what I think makes them so good. It’s on the Juno soundtrack which is where I first heard about them and Ellen Page and Michael Cera actually cover it and play it at the end of the movie. So listen to both versions, because there lovely.
3. Uh-huh - Munchausen By Proxy
Unfortunately they’re not a real band, just Zooey Deschanel’s fictional band from the movie Yes Man, made up of the band Von Iva with Zooey fronting them. This song makes me laugh every time I hear it, it’s even funnier if you’ve seen the movie and have seen the costumes the band wears to perform in. If not here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVtd2xvlf4c
2. How you love me now – Hey Monday
Hold on tight
I feel a bit behind the times since they’ve been around since 2007, but I’ve actually only just heard about this band and I really love them. I’ve been listening to their album Hold on tight all week and it fully wakes me up on the bus journey to college and I have to hold back from singing along because I really don’t think the other people on the bus would like that much. They’ve been compared to Paramore, just like every other female fronted alternative band in the last 4 years but they’re not that similar and even though I’m a fan of Paramore, I prefer Cassadee Pope’s vocals over Hayley Williams.
1. Teenage kicks – Nouvelle Vague
I really like this version of the song. I heard it on the advert for the new series of the Inbetweeners. It reminds me of summer so I thought it was an appropriate choice for number one on the list this week since it goes so well with the weather we’ve been having recently :).

It's your eyes that make me smile
10. Not Now – Blink 182
I know it’s not the most ‘fun’ song they’ve ever wrote but its one of my favourite songs ever. I’m too excited about the blink 182 reunion so I’ve been listening to them all week.
9. Bittersweet – Sick of Sarah
I actually first heard about this band when I was looking at something about Bikini Kill, and while the person who had reviewed they’re album had no clue comparing the two bands, I actually should thank them because I found a new band that I reckon are pretty cool, so thanks man.
8. Fast as you can – Fiona Apple
When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks like a King …
This is my favourite song by Fiona Apple, it’s so good but I can’t even explain why.
Just listen to it; you’ll get what I mean.
7. Speak slow – Tegan and Sara
So Jealous
I love everything about them, they’re lyrics always make me laugh and they’re harmonies are lovely. Plus I like the video to this song.
6. Sixteen – No Doubt
Tragic Kingdom
I love this song, except for the strange speaking parts which are actually just creepy. Other than that it’s got a pretty sweet guitar solo and Gwen’s vocals are probably best on this song than any others. In fact the whole Tragic Kingdom album is worth listening to. Why couldn’t Gwen Stefani just leave the Harajuku girls alone and keep making music like this.
5. Hey you Hey Man – Juliette and the Licks
You’re speaking my language (B-side)
Juliette and the Licks were the first band I ever saw live and they were incredible! I usually hate it when actors try to launch music careers, (Scarlett Johansson: Oh my god.) but it seems there is no end to Juliette’s talent.
4. Oh Yeah – The Subways
Young for Eternity
This song’s been stuck in my head for a week now but it’s not annoying me because it’s so good! I also really like Charlotte Cooper’s voice; she should do more vocal solos. That would be pretty sweet.
3. Bonzo goes to Bitburg – The Ramones
Animal Boy
No one ever seems to have heard this song, but it’s actually the best one they’ve ever wrote! Everyone should listen to it and fully enjoy the beautiful sounds created by such ugly men. ♥!
2. Aneurysm – Nirvana
Incesticide
Words cannot even express how much I love this song! Wrote about Tobi Vail, who is arguably one of my favourite people in musical history, this song is the reason I started listening to Nirvana and it makes me wish I was a teenager in the 90’s so I could of saw Nirvana live so much it actually saddens me.
1. Rebel Girl – Bikini Kill
I think it was obvious this was gonna be on the list. Same as the above it makes me wish I was a teenager in the 90’s so I could run amok and smash stuff up. No I’m joking, that totally demeans the Riot Grrrl scene which is actually one of the reason I wish I was a teenager in the 90’s. Especially because now I feel as though I’m the only feminist left. Sad times. But an amazing song.
